Note:
Extracted from "Genealogy of the Dutton family of Pennsylvania" compiled by Gilbert Cope, printed in 1871 (pp.20-21):
He was the heir of his uncle, Lawrence. King Henry IV [RIN 5214*] granted Sir Piers a pardon for having supported Henry Percy "Hotspur". He was made Lieutenant or Deputy in the office of the Seneschaly of the County of Chester. . . A bitter fued developed between Sir Piers and Sir William Athurton of Lancashire, which involved many partisans besides these two men. Sir Piers' partisans stole 40 oxen and 40 cows from Atherton and beat his servants. Atherton stole horses and saddles from
Sir Piers. Both sides were guilty of making incursions and invasions of each others estates. In 1419, the Regent of England, John, Duke of Bedford, was finally able to make peace by ordering mutual restitution . . . Sir Peter was made Governor of Northwood Park in Over Whitley, during his life, with all the fees thereof. . . Children of Piers & ELIZABETH:
