Sir THOMAS DUTTON, son of Hugh (3) Dutton, was living in 1249 and 1268. He bought Clatterwigge, a hamlet in Little Leigh, near Barterton, about 1244. He was sheriff of Cheshire in 1268. His widow was living in 1290 and 1294. He built a chapel at the manor house of Dutton. He married Philippa, daughter of Vivian de Sandon, of Sandon. Children: Hugh, mentioned below; Thomas, had lands of his father in Staffordshire; Sir Robert; Mary, married William Venables; Katherine, married John, son of Sir Urian de Sancto Petro.

His older brother, Hugh, died childless, so Thomas became heir to the Dutton estates. He purchased Clatterwigge, a Hamlet in Little Legh. . . he built the Chappel at the Manor-house of Dutton toward the end of [KING] HENRY THE THIRD's [RIN 783] reign [i.e. before 1272].

2.) Thomas, to whom his parents gave Great Rownall and Little Rownall in Staffordshire. This Sir Thomas was Sheriff of Cheshire 1268. He died in the beginning of the reign of [KING] EDWARD THE FIRST [RIN 728] [i.e. after 1307]. He probably d.s.p.
3.) Robert, m. Agnes, dau. of William de Mere. His mother gave them Great Rownall and Little Rownall in Staffordshire.
4.) Margaret, m. William, son & heir of Roger Venables of Kinderton.
5.) Katherine, m. John, son of Vrian de Sancto Petro.
