Weis' "Ancestral Roots. . . " (57:33).
Note that Cokayne's "Complete Peerage" (Chester, p.165, note b), lists a "William Venables, Baron of Kinderton, whose issue male continued till 1676", as one of the 8 heriditary barons subject to Hugh of Avranches, Earl of Chester (RIN 3101*). As this Earl died in 1101, it would appear that the William Venables who was his vassal would have been roughly 200 years earlier than this Sir Hugh.
