"Genealogy of the Dutton family of Pennsylvania" compiled by Gilbert Cope, printed in 1871 (p.15) calls him Baron of Dunham-Massy.
Cokayne's "Complete Peerage" (Chester, p.165, note b), lists a "Hammond de Massey, Baron of Dunham Massey", as one of the 8 heriditary barons subject to Hugh of Avranches, Earl of Chester (RIN 3101*). As this Earl of Chester died in 1101, it would seem that the Hammond who was his vassal would have been a generation or two older than this Hamon.
