Blaine J. Snyder, 82, of Ridgeley, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Nov. 12, 1920, in Gilman, he was the son of the late James Blaine and Cora Cooper Snyder.
He was also preceded in death by one son, William Myron Snyder; five brothers, Blake, Curtis, John, Ward, and Roy; and two sisters, Pearl Watson and Hilda Snyder.
Mr. Snyder was retired from the Western Maryland Railroad and CSX Railroad as a bridge inspector and was a former city council member in Ridgeley.
Surviving are his wife, Alice D. McIe Snyder; three sons, Benny Joe Snyder and wife, Doris, Larry D. Snyder and wife, Marlene, all of Harman, and Ronald K. Snyder and wife, Cindy, LaVale, Md.; six grandchildren, Larry, Lonnie, Joe, Billy, Krysten, and Jenna Snyder; and nine great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Larson, Landry, Zachary, Tori, Laden, Alex and Adam Snyder.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Md., from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale. Pallbearers will be William “Billy” Snyder, Lonnie A. Snyder, Benny “Joe” Snyder Jr., Brandon J. Snyder and Larry D. Snyder Jr. From 30 Aug 2003.

BLAINE J. SNYDER, JR. was born 12 Nov 1920 in Gilmar, WV, and died 28 Aug 2003 in Cumberland, Md. He married ELMA INA PENNINGTON, daughter of SAMUEL PENNINGTON and GETTIE CARR. She was born 23 Mar 1921 in Tucker Co., WV, and died 01 Apr 1955 in Tucker Co., WV.

Davis--Mrs. Elma Ina Snyder, 34, wife of Blaine Snyder, Jr., Laneville, died Friday night at her home after a long illness.
Born March 23, 1921 in Laneville, Mrs. Snyder was a member of the Pentecostal Church and Women's Club there. Her parents were the late Samuel and Gettie (Carr) Pennington.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Benny, Larry and Billy Snyder, at home; a brother, Paul Pennington, Arlington, Va., and four sisters, Mrs. Goldie Lawrence and Mrs. Greta Lawrence, Dry Fork; Mrs. Gladys Cosner, Mismarck, and Mrs. Evelyn Mitchell, Melbourne, Fla.
Rites will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Laneville Pentecostal Church. Burial will take place in Pennington Cemetery Dry Fork.

Ridgely Man Dies In Mishap
A young Ridgley man was killed Friday in an automobile accident near Palm Spring, Calif.
The victim was identified as William Myron Snyder, 21, a 1964 graduate of Ridgeley High
School.
His father, Blaine Snyder and step-mother, Mrs. Alice M. Snyder, reside in Ridgeley.
Services for the young man will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Church of Brethren at Harman. Rev. Ellsworth Harman, pastor, will officiate and interment will be in the Snyder family cemetery at Harman.
The body is at the Runner Funeral Home in Elkins.
Snyder, who has been discharged from the Army only ten days, was spending some time in California prior to returning home. He had planned to enter college in September.
A native of Harman, he was born January 17, 1945.
Besides his father and step-mother, he is survived by two brothers, Larry D. Snyder, San Antonio, Texas, and Benjamin J. Snyder, Harman, and a half brother, Ronald K. Snyder, of Ridgeley.
