Resi Brown passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston due to complications of pneumonia. She has resided at Life Care Center in Lewiston for the past 11/2 years. She was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Obergunszburg, Germany, to Karl and Maria Holzmann.
She graduated from school in Sonthofen, Germany, in 1946. While in Germany, she worked at the local hotel and store as a waitress and clerk.
She married the love of her life Kenneth Brown Oct. 10, 1952, in Fussen, Germany. Kenneth was discharged from the U.S. Army and returned home. Resi joined Kenneth in Kendrick 11 months later, after completing the necessary paperwork. They were happily married for 47 years when Kenneth passed away in December 1989.
Resi was employed by Burts Cafe, Browning Cut Stock and Orchard Nursing Home. She received a 20-year service certificate for her service as a volunteer at the Kendrick Senior Citizen Center.
Some of her many hobbies included: camping, knitting, crocheting, bowling and walking her dog. Resi enjoyed attending Kendrick High sporting events to watch her children and grandchildren participate.
Resi is survived by her sister, Maya of Marktoberdorf, Germany; her four children, Daniel Brown and Debbie Mathews of Kendrick, Jenny Brown and Ron Beard of Lewiston, Mary Lou Taylor and husband Dale of Juliaetta, and Kenneth Jr. and wife Thena of Newman Lake, Wash.; as well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; sisters, Augusta Lutsenberger, Mathilda Baumberger and Wilhelmine Fischer; and brothers, Karl Holzmann Jr. and Josef Holzmann.
Viewing is from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home in Lewiston followed by a funeral service at 10 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Kendrick Cemetery.
