After inheriting the “home place” (Nathan’s homestead) from his father, B. H. Boone, lost it due to debts.
65Benjamin Howard Boone, the youngest son of Nathan and Olive Boone, inherited the home and 40 acres (valued in 1877 at $345) after his parent's death. He was still listed as the owner in 1881 but by 1893 the property had passed to his wife, Mary E. Boone.
In 1894 ownership was transferred to Charles M. Boone, the son of Benjamin Howard Boone. He remained the owner until Nov. 23, 1897, when the Greene County Sheriff sold the property at the front door of the court house at a public auction to secure money to cover debts.
