Hendricks--Baxter J. Jordan, 78, a retired farmer, died Friday at his home after an extended illness. A native of Whitmer, he had resided most of his life in Tucker County.
He was a son of the late Amijah [Adonijah] and Amanda (Nelson) Jordan. Besides his wife, the former Staudia Fansler, he is survived by a son Bruce, of Keyser; two daughters, Mrs. Iris Lawson, Hopemont, and Mrs. Ruth Jones, Mcallen; Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Norman, Akron; Mrs. Hassie Edmunson, Orofino, Idaho; Mrs. Jessie Snyder, Lewiston, Idaho; four brothers, Clinton, Weitt, Idaho; Cleve, Lewiston; John and Van, both of Orofino, and seven grandchildren.
The body is at the Greenlief Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Bickerton, pastor of the Free Methodist Church of Hendricks officiating. Interment will be in the McNelly Cemetery.

They had three children, (1)Bruce b. 16 Apr 1910 in Tucker Co., WV and d. 23 FEB 1974 in Tucker Co., WV (2) Iris Blanche Jordan b. November 09, 1911 and d. October 26, 1994 (3) Ruth C. Parsons--Mrs. Straudie Jordan, 84, of Hendricks, died yesterday at Tucker County Hospital. She had been in ill health for several months.
Born in Hendricks, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Mary Ann (Dumire) Fansler and was the widow of Baxter J Jordan.
She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Iris Lawson, Hambleton and Mrs. Ruth C. Jones, McAllen, Texas; a son, Bruce L Jordan, Keyser; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The body is at the Greenlief Funeral Home where a service will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Carl Rine will officiate and burial will be in McNeely Cemetery.
