Notes for Robert Arthur (Spouse 1)
Robert Arthur Campbell was the son of Robert A. and Ann. He was born in Scotland, on 1 January 1818. When he was about a year and a half old, he emigrated to Canada with his parents aboard the ship, PRINCE OF WALES. He lived in the Red River Settlement with his parents and siblings until about 1835, when the family moved to Apple River precinct, in Jo Daviess county, Illinois. There, on 1 July 1847, Robert married Minerva Warner Craig. Minerva was born 22 February 1829, in Jo Daviess county. She was the daughter of James Craig and Delinda Boone, the granddaughter of Daniel Boone. Robert and Minerva lived in Jo Daviess county and raised their family until about 1869 when they moved to Humboldt county, Iowa. They lived there until after their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, married; then they all proceeded to Dakota county, Nebraska. Robert and Minerva never moved again. Minerva died 17 February 1895 and Robert died in June 1896, both in Emerson, Dakota county. They are both buried at Rosehill cemetery in Emerson.Robert came to Illinois in 1832 with his parents, Robert and Ann, from the Selkirk settlement in Canada. Robert held some county offices; such as Justice of the Peace of Emerson and Pigeon Creek precincts, county coroner, and county assessor. Robert is buried in Emerson.
