Notes for Israel Boone
HIS [Israel’s] WIFE IS NOT KNOWN. What is known is that she was a "worldling" (a non-quaker). His children were: Jesse, Jonathan, Elizabeth, and Sarah ("Sallie"). Jesse was born in PA and the family moved to North Carolina in 1750 where the other three were born. Israel's wife probably died in 1754 after the birth of their last daughter. Israel himself died 26 June 1756 to consumption. His sons were raised with their uncle, Daniel Boone.

16A quote from Nathan Boone about Israel Boone:
[Israel] Died of consumption at an early age. His wife had previously died, and as no other Boones ever had it, it was thought he caught it from his wife. Young Jesse was raised by my father and mother. Jesse was always unlucky, first breaking his leg and then his arm. We don’t believe that Jesse Boone came to Kentucky during this hunt; Neeley was the man who came out with Squire Boone and returned home by himself.
Notes for Martha (Spouse 1)
537There is no written documentation of the name of the woman who was married to Israel Boone. Several submissions to WFT have called her "Indian Woman" and others have left the space blank. In the his biography DANIEL BOONE, THE LIFE AND LEGEND OF AN AMERICAN PIONEER, John Mack Faragher maintains that there is no record of a name for Israel's wife/companion.
