Johanna may have been a daughter from a previous marriage in Virginia. Read Caleb's Will which states "my daughter Irana". Also note the eleven year space where no children are born and the marriage to Nancy in 1826 ...Iranah Carter or Johanna...we have no record on her....She is only mentioned in a will.....[CARTER, Caleb - will dated 28 Aug 1861. Wife; Nancy Carter; all personal estate and half interest in the farm for her natural life, and the other half to my daughter, Iranah Carter. Also names Andrew Carter, Raleigh Carter, John Carter and Iranah Carter, Susannah Tyler, and the shares of Elizabeth Kimmons and Meetz Brown to go their children as they become of age.
