took 3 wives . . . first two died early
145 . . . The Merediths are of Welsh descent. Davis Meredith was born in Wales, near the middle of the eighteenth century, and being a Sabbatarian, and being persecuted for his religious belief, he came to America in his young manhood, shortly before the Revolution, and settled in Connecticut. He took up arms in defence of his adopted country, being one of the patriots that helped throw off the British yoke.
He was married three times. His first wife, having lived only a brief time after the marriage, died childless. Nothing else is known of her history, but she probably crossed the sea with him. Shortly after the close of the Revolution, he went to Loudon county, Virginia, where he was again married, where two children were born of this union; viz., the late Mrs. Rebecca Nipton, of Marion county; and the late Neu Meredith, of Ohio. The mother died when these children were quite small, and Mr. Meredith removed from the "Old Dominion" to Marion county, where he married Miss Nancy Pritchard, sister of Thomas Pritchard, senior, and seven children were the result of this union: Rachel married James Arnett, Eleanor, William Arnett, and Martha, James Jones, all of Marion county; Thomas sleeps in Kansas; Davis, who was a lay minister of the M. E. church, at Centerville, in Tyler county; and Job and William have already been mentioned.

Came from Wales to CT before the Rev. War, migrated to VA, was an Enlisted Soldier of the Virginia Line

Notes for Nancy Anne (Spouse 3)
143Nancy Ann Pritchard was the daughter of Thomas Pritchard Sr. and Rachel Davis. Nancy's ancestors were part of the first permanent English settlement at Jamestown, Virginia, when Thomas Pritchard I arrived on the "Abigail" in 1620 and 1624 (he went back to England for a while in between) as a member of the Virginia Company. In 1656, Thomas served in the Virginia House of Burgesses as a representative of Gloucester County. Later [in 1741] Christopher Pritchard was granted land by Lord Fairfax . . . , along today's county line between Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. Nancy's father Thomas Pritchard Sr. was rumored to have been a spy for George Washington , whom he had met when they were both surveyors. Nancy married Davis Meredith on Nov. 8, 1800 in Allegheny County, Maryland.
