Following notes are from Peggy Gilmore------------------------------------------------------

1773 Augusta County, Virginia - Original Deed from King George III to Jacob Carr for 53 acres of land in Augusta County, Virginia and signed by "Dunmore" March 1, 1773. This deed was handed down to Eva Carr Allen who showed it to me (Peggy Gilmore) many years ago. Jacob sold 45 acres of this land to Philip and Jacob Harper Sept 1, 1801, DB 3 page 305.

Jacob still owned some of this ground at the time of his death. He died intestate and the children were all named in the settling of his estate. His son, Reuben, was still single and living in Pendleton County and acted as "Attorney in fact" for his brothers and sisters who had already left Pendleton County. Reuben was probably a farmer as were most of the other sons.

Also received from Peggy Gilmore, May 31, 1999
Pendleton County, Virginia History assigned Jacob more children than he really had.
