Richard Pennington was born about 1750.  He died aft 1814 in Pendleton Co., VA.  Richard Pennington settled in Pendleton County, (West) Virginia in the late 1700's and became the progenitor of many West Virginia Penningtons.  His ancestors and place of origin are still unknown. Limited information suggests that he may have come from Delaware or the eastern shore of Maryland.  It is suspected that he may have been related to Elijah Pennington, who lived in Hampshire County, WV from about 1784 to 1826.  NOTE:  Elijah Pennington, herein referred to, is the son of Benjamin Pennington (Group IX).

He was married to Eleanor Prichard.   Eleanor Prichard was born about 1750.
