Bartrum's "Welsh Genealogies".
According to ancient traditions, he came to Wales from Southern Scotland from among "the men of the north". Whether he was real or mythical is open to debate as the first recorded reference to him was made around 800 - about 400 years after he is said to have lived. The traditions say that he came to Gwynedd with eight sons and a grandson and drove the Irish out. If true, the current consenses is that he came during the time of VORTIGERN (RIN 3511). His kingdom would have almost certainly consisted of the two banks of the Menai Straights and the coast over towards the estuary of the river Conwy. This would be the foundation for the later kindom of Gwynedd.
