Mentioned in Cockayne's "Complete Peerage" (EU, p.160) as the father of RAOUL DE LUSIGNAN, but actually was RAOUL's grandfather. See notes on Hugh's son, HUGH.
In late 1163 Nar ed-din taking advantage of Amalric's absence in Egypt, attacked Tripoli. He invaded the Buqaia so as to lay siege to Krak castle. But Hugh de Lusignan, Geoffrey Martel, brother to the Count of Angouleme, and their followers, were passing through Tripoli on return from Jerusalem. They joined Count Raymond and an urgent appeal to Antioch brought Bohemond III and the Imperial general Constantine Coloman down from the north. This united army marched swiftly through the hills and surprised the Moslems at their camp below Krak. After a short battle, in which Coloman and his troops distinguished themselves, Nar ed-din fled in disorder to Homs, regrouped his army and received reinforcement whence the Christians abandoned the pursuit. In 1164 Hugh with Bohemond, Raymond of Tripoli and Constantine Coloman were taken prisoners at the siege of Harenc and taken to Aleppo
