759Served in the Revolutionary War, served as a bodyguard to George Washington. Robert was a descendent of the Sir James Raines who settled at Jamestown, VA in 1620. He in turn was a direct decendent of the Baron Hugh (Roger) De Rennes of Rennes (Brittany), France who invaded England with William the Conqueror in 1066. He became a Duke and held lands which are today known as Raynes Park in England. (Raines Family News)
