Mary's death may have occured as late as April 6, 1928. (Mary Miles Sanders, gg granddaughter, confirms the 4/9/27 date). Her parents were George Dowell and Artiamesia (Payne). Mary and Steven had 11 children between 1859 and 1887. They were married on Sept 27, 1858 in Polk county, Missouri.

Son of William Franklin McKinney, Sr., and Mary "Polly" Boone.

He married Mary Elizabeth Dowell on Sept. 27, 1858, in Polk Co., MO. Known Children: Samantha Alice (Miles), George William, James Rane, Lee Ann (Drewer) John Franklin, Elizabeth V. Ellen (Stansill), Samuel S., Daniel Boone, Artiamecia (Davis), Robert Benjamin, and Lucy Blossom (Reeves).

Stephen served in the Civil War, first for the Confederate Army, then for the Union Army, 1861-1863.
