5556Among the old residents who helped shape the destination of the county, may be mentioned Job Parsons, Sr. . . . All these, and others, have lent their influence on the past and present of our county. Job Parsons was a soldier of the War of 1812, through which he served with honor. He held the office of Magistrate for many years, and was always a citizen of the county. He died in 1883 at the age of ninety-four. We shall find him prominently forward again during the Civil War, in which he sympathized with the South, and was never slow in expressing his sympathy.
55Job Parson Sr. (1789-1883) and Job Parsons Jr. (1820-1904) are listed in this history as Senior and Junior because they are known as such in the records of the county and the memories of its people. Since they were not father and son, they are not Senior and Junior, but Job I and Job II. Job I had a son named
Job Ward [Parsons] but since the middle name was added the necessity of a Junior was eliminated. Abraham Parsons also had a son named Job Ward [Parsons], consequently there was a
Job [Parsons] I and a Job Ward [Parsons] II.
51“Ann BONNER b abt 1812 never married Job PARSONS, but had 5 girls by him. She did marry a RAINES, but I don't have his name. The girls all went by BONNER as with "Kitty" above. Barsheba died after her son, Job BONNER, was born, his father was never named. Job PARSONS was married to Sarah LOSH.”
