. . . Cherry's father, Pat Boone, was the oldest son to Archie and Margaret Boone. Pat's father was the foreman of a family construction business and his mother was a registered nurse. His future wife, Shirley, was the oldest of three daughters to country singing star Red Foley and his wife, Eva, of the "Three Little Maids" a country - western sister trio.

Pat Boone was born “Charles Eugene Patrick Boone” on 1 June 1934 in Jacksonville, FL. He was “Believe it or not” the great, great, great, great, grandson of western pioneer “Daniel Boone”. He eloped at the early age of 17 and married his high school sweetheart “Shirley Foley” the daughter of Country & Western singer “Red Foley” on 7 November 1953. He also had his own local radio show called “Youth On Parade” on a Nashville radio station “WSIX”. He attended “North Texas State University” where he won a local talent contest, which earned him the right to appear on “The Ted Mack Amateur Hour”. This lead to a one year tenure on “The Arthur Godfrey Show. He then they moved to Denton, TX and he transferred to “Columbia University” where he majored in Speech and English. Pat later got a job with Fort Worth TV Station “WBAP”. In 1954 he cut a few Country & Western songs on the small independent “Republic” record label.

In February 1955 he signed a contract with “Dot” records in Chicago and in April his first single for them “Two hearts, Two Kisses” peaks at #16. It was a remake of an “Otis Williams & The Charms” R & B hit. His next release “Ain’t That A Shame” a cover of a “Fat’s Domino” hit goes to #1 on the singles charts in September. In November his 3rd cover song “At My Front Door (Crazy Little Mama)” which was a hit for the “El Dorados” peaks at #7 on the singles charts. The “B” side of this single “No Arms Can Ever Hold You” charts separately and peaks at #26.

Between 1956 and 1969 he had a total of 63 songs that appeared on the singles charts, many of them were two sided hits. Some of the two-sided hits charted at the same time and some charted separately. A list of some of all his singles are shown below. In June 1957 he appears and sings in the Movie “Bernadine” along with “Terry Moore”. In October he stars in his own weekly variety show on ABC TV titled “The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom” and continues through 1960. He stars in several more Movies over the years the biggest being “Journey To The Center Of The Earth” in December 1960. In April 1962 he stars in the Movie “State Fair” with “Bobby Darin” and “Ann Margaret”. In 1968 he appears in “Perils of Pauline”.
