Parker William Cooper, age 85 years, a resident of Locust Street, Elkins, Wva, made his journey home to receive his many Heavenly rewards and dance around the throne with his brothers and sisters in christ late Tuesday evening, October 24, 2006 at the Davis Memorial Hospital. We will rest beneath the wings of his vibrant smile and the intense strenth he imparted to us. He was born Sunday July 24, 1921 at Harman, Wv, a son of the late Rollin Snyder Cooper and Verdie Hedrick Cooper. On February 2, 1947 at Davis Wv, he was married to the former A. Cathern Rexrode, who preceded him in death April 10, 1996. Also surviving are two sons; William Rollin Cooper and wife Diana of Elkins. and Richard Jones and wife Frances of Quinwood, one special son; Darryl Talkington and wife Sabrina of Elkins, two daughters; Brenda Cooper and husband Greg of Elkins. and Kathryn Luann A Bugsy A Tipton and husband John of Norfolk, one special daughter; Marie Hinkle of Elkins, one sister, Joyce Sanders of Akron, Oh, one foster sister; Stella Mullenex and husband Ed of Job, Wv, five grandchildern, Shelly Beaver and husband Mark, Katina Ritchie and husband Jimmy, William Rollin Cooper, II, and James Jones and wife, Kim, two great grandchildern; D.J. Gainer and Crystal Jones. Preceding him in death are one brother; David H. Cooper and two sisters; Annsbelle Nelson and Eleanor Nelson. He attended the school of Harman and Michigan and had served with the United States Army during World War II where he fought during the Normandy Conflict and was assigned to Co,F 33 1 st Infantry Regiment, 83rd Division. Other areas of service included, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe, where he earned the following; the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, AM, Theater Service Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Ribbon. He was a well know farmer in the Whitmer area until 1969 when he moved to Elkins, was a former employee of the Huttonsville Correctional Center and Allegheny Lumber Company, was a member of the Church of God at Whitmer and Elkins. He was a member of the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign wars and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #1, where he served as Chaplain. He was a prayer Warrior who A s passion was guiding others to the lord, and ministering to hospital and nursing home patients, never missing a week. He never encountered a stranger and was as inspiration to people from every imaginable walk of life. He spent the last few years of his retirement gardening and preaching the gosple, The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Friday from 4 to 8 Pm. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chaple on Saturday; October 28,2006 at 11 AM. The Reverend Doctor Phillip Richards and the Reverend Randall Richards will officiate and interment will follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer where members of the WV Honor Guard, and the H.W, Daniel A ^s Post #29, American Legion will conduct military honors, The family wishes to express special thanks to Alice Ketterman, Mr. Cooper A^s Special Angel A^, who diligenlty and lovingly called nightly to insure that all was well with him, and they also suggest that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of memorial contributions to Whitmer Church of God, P.O.
