Mary and Roy Cochrell are moving to Lewiston the end of this month. They have been long time residents of Fraser and Roy knows the history of this area like the back of his hand. Steve and Norma Brand stopped in for a visit on Wednesday, July 18. Their daughter-in-law, Cristi Cochrell, was there to help get things ready for the move. Mary reported they have purchased a home overlooking the Lewiston Bridge that she feels will be just right for them. We will be sorry to see you move but are happy for you also. When Mary and Roy leave, our new neighbors will be Vernon and Blanche Kinney.

255Roy M. Cochrell, 85, Lewiston
Roy Mace Cochrell passed away Thursday evening, March 5, 2009, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston of congestive heart failure. He was 85.
Roy was born at his Granddad John W. Snyder's house in Fraser, to Roy Melvin Cochrell and Nola Snyder Cochrell on April 4, 1923. He lived in the Fraser area all his life until relocating to Lewiston two years ago.
On Oct. 26, 1944, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane Morlock, and they enjoyed 64 happy years together raising their family of three.
During Roy's lifetime he worked at many things. He farmed, drove logging and lumber truck, owned and operated the Cochrell Home Furnishing Store at Weippe, sold automobiles for Adams Auto Sales, was maintenance electrician at State Hospital North, and then owned and operated Cochrell Electric, doing electrical and appliance repair until his retirement.
He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone. Camping with family at a favorite spot, whether fishing or hunting, was always a highlight of his life.
Survivors include his wife at the family home; three children, Janet and Jim VanDevender of Wenatchee, Nolan and Cristie Cochrell of Pierce and Jason and Diane Cochrell of Fraser; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo and Otis Cochrell; and two sisters, Edna Thornton and Lennis Wilkins.
He was such a special husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by many.
Visitation was held March 9 at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino, followed by a graveside service at the Orofino Riverside Cemetery. A covered dish dinner followed at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Riverside.
