Notes for Cassandra Boone
1220While researching the Whiteley and Boone Family, I came across your posting of Franklin Whitely and Cassandra Boone who were married in DeKalb MO in 1850. My Great-Great Gandfather and grandmother Francis Marion Whiteley and Cassandra Boone were married in DeKalb Mo on August 2, 1850. They shortly afterwards became pioneers on the Oregon Trail and settled in the Oregon Territory what is now Yamhill County Oregon. They were the parents of eight children.

They then moved to what is now known as Whitman County Washington. They then moved to Umatilla County Oregon about 1890. Francis Marion Aka Frank Whiteley died November 11, 1905 in Milton, OR. Cassandra died in Adams, OR January 11, 1911.

Their children are John Whiteley, Sara Whiteley, Linsey Boone Whiteley, Lee J. Whiteley, Mary Whiteley, Francis Marion (Frank) Whiteley Jr., Martha Whiteley and Henry Harvey Whiteley.

Notes for Francis Marion (Spouse 1)
Hello Craig

In response to your inquiry, Francis Marion Whiteley are John B. Whiteley and Phyllis Davis. John was born born in Russel County Virginia 1n 1802 and died in Colton County, Washington in 1882. Phyllis was born 1805 in Perry County, Kentucky.died 1873 in Yamhill County, Oregon. John's parents were Joseph Whiteley and Frances Lee of Virginia.

John Whiteley and Phyllis Davis had five children, Francis Marion, Nancy, Catherine. William Riley and John Skeen. I do not know how John Skeen fits into the picture.

Francis Marion Whiteley was born 1832 in Indiana.

Cassandra Boone is the Daughter of Lindsey Boone and Sarah Grooms. She was born 1834 in Missouri. Lindsey Boone is the son of Daniel Morgan Boone and Sarah Griffin.
Cassandra has a sister, Sarah Griffin Boone, born 1832 in Missouri. Sarah died in 1910 in Lyle, Klickitat County, Washington. She was married William C. Phipps.

I have quite a bit of information on the Whiteley side of the family. The Whiteley were early Oregon Trail pioneers. The family includes a famous indian chief of the Wallawalla tribe. He is Peopeomoxmox a signer of the 1855 peace treaty the created the Confederated Tibes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. He was murdered and his body mutilated several months at the battle of Frenchtown near what is the City of Walla Walla.

If you wish I can send you the information on the Whiteley and Boone side of the family. I can send it over the enternet in PDF form.

I live in Hermiston, Oregon.
