Wednesday, August 5, 2009
Evelyn C. Huddleston passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Death was the result of an accidental burning.
Evelyn was born Dec. 25, 1923, to Omer C. and Goldie Baker Snyder, at Orofino. She grew up near Weippe on Snyder ranch on the edge of Lolo Creek. As a child, she attended the OK School and the Wilson School. As a young woman, she worked as a cook's helper in the logging camp at Headquarters.
She married N.A. (Bo) Huddleston on Aug. 14, 1947. Along with Bo came his four children from a previous marriage, Nancy, Diane, Donna and Butch. They lived and worked in the Pierce area for several years. Evelyn and Bo went on to have five children of their own, Carol, Norman, Kenny, Marvin and Marlene.
They moved to Kamiah and worked there for a little more than a year before moving to Lewiston in 1958. Her last and final move was to the Lapwai Valley in 1961, where she resided until her death.
Evelyn enjoyed family gatherings, visiting with friends and potluck dinners. Her homemade noodles and beef were a favorite of the family. She will be missed by all of us.
Survivors include her children, Nancy Martin and companion Bill Williams of Kamiah, Butch and Marlene Huddleston of Weippe, Carol and Chuck Willoughby of Lapwai, Norman and Colleen Huddleston of Culdesac, Marvin Huddleston of Lewiston, Marlene (Dolly) and Andre Picard of Lapwai; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bo; her son Kenny and family; daughters Diane Erickson and Donna Willoughby; and two granddaughters.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home in Lewiston. Burial will follow at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston. A covered-dish luncheon will follow the burial at Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Lapwai.
Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
Thanks to the doctors and nurses at Harborview Medical Center for their great care and concern.
