Gelda Gay Mullennex Cooper, 89, a resident of Debary, Fla., and more recently a resident of Windy Hill Village in Kingwood, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, in Kingwood.
She was born April 27, 1923, at Whitmer, a daughter of the late Martin and Olive Gladys Mallow Mullennex.
On Aug. 1, 1941, at Oakland, Md., she was married to John Howard Cooper, who preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Teter and husband, Jerry Teter Sr., of Bruceton Mills and Alice Vandevender and husband, Roger, of Kerens. One sister, Dollie Yokum of Morgantown; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Mullennex of Job also survive.
Also preceding her in death were one grandson, Jerry R. Teter Jr.; and one brother, John Wesley Mullennex.
Mrs. Cooper attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed for many years by K-Mart Corp. She attended the United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kelly Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
