JOYCE EUNICE COOPER

Joyce Eunice Cooper, 69, a resident of 301 Clover Hill Road, Dayton, died November 14, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Cooper was born on October 29, 1941, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late William Edgar and Mary Virginia Ritchie Myers.

She worked for the Pilgrims Pride Hinton plant for many years and currently was employed at the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.

She was an avid bingo player. She was a member of the Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren and had attended Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church.

She was married twice, to Earl M. Long who preceded her in death in 1971 and to Jack Cooper who preceded her in 1991.

Surviving are three sons, Earl M. Long; Teddy W. Long and fiancé Tammy Warner; Weddie L. Long, and wife Jennifer; all of Dayton; five step children, Jackie Cooper, Don Cooper, Tom Cooper, Janie Cooper and Joy Vandevander; one sister, Carolyn Rosenson, Richmond; one granddaughter, Shannon Long and one great granddaughter, Rebekah Morris; five step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; a companion, Gary Sheffer and a special friend, Naomi Mitchell both of Sugar Grove, West Virginia.

Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Fred, William and John Myers.

Wendell "Sonny" Henkel will conduct a funeral Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at Mount Horeb Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from six until eight at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clover Hill Fire Department and Rescue Squad, 2100 Clover Hill Road, Dayton, Virginia 22821.
