Sarah was the oldest child of Jacob and Susan (Robinson) Woodward. Her death certificate lists her middle name as Amelia, but her father biosketch in the 1883 History of Greene County lists her middle initials as A.P. (which may stand for Ann Permelia, according to some information found in family trees online). She was married to Michael Barnes around 1870, and the couple had one son, Charles Jacob (2 Sep 1878 - 4 Dec 1946).
