William Alfred Elza and Mary Elizabeth White    Mary Elizabeth White and William Alfred Elza on their wedding day in 1884.  Mary Elizabeth was born at Job, Randolph County, WV, on January 1, 1866, to parents Levi White and Mary Ann Davis, and she passed away on January 14, 1949, at the age of 83.  Mary had a twin sister, Martha, who was born December 31, in the preceding year of 1865.  Mary outlived her twin by seven years.  William Alfred “Alf” Elza was born at Whitmer, Randolph County, WV, to parents Solomon Elza and Virginia White, on October 5, 1863, and passed away on August 11, 1935, at the age of 73. 
Alf and Mary lived their entire married lives at Whitmer and at one time during the early years of their marriage lived on and operated the farm that was first settled by Alf’s Grandfather Thompson Elza in the mid 1800s.  Alf and Mary produced nine children between 1885 and 1909 with names: William Arthur; Pearl Rosetta; Lavicy Harland; Payton Nicholas; James Boyd; Alpha Hollie; Bales Buelen; Joseph Howard; and Elizabeth; Elza.  Son William Arthur Elza, a brakeman on the local railroad, died at the age of 25 from mortal injuries received in a train accident.
