Notes for William Lawrence
1520William Lawrence enlisted into the Rev. War in 1788 in Frederick Town, Frederick Co. MD. A few months after enlisting, he marched to Annapolis, MD where he was attached to the Brigade. He returned to Frederick Town to guard prisoners, and again went back to Annapolis and back to Frederick Town. He as in no battles and served 3 years.
Records show that William served under Captain David Lynn in the 7th Maryland Regiment, commanded by Colonial Gunby, and was attached to the Brigade commanded by Gen. Smallwood. He was honorably discharged in Frederick Town by Liet. Lynn.
Records also show, that he was a resident citzen of the US on March 18, 1818, giving the impression that he may not have been born in the US. William was a sadler by trade. He was living in poverty due mostly to a severe rupture which he recieved 14 years earlier.
