179John Tyre Nelson, aged 66, years, a prominent citizen, of Marlinton for the past 25 years, died at his home on Friday afternoon, September 4, 1942.
Some weeks ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis. On Sunday afternoon his body was laid to rest in the Mountain View Cemetery. The funeral service was conducted from the Methodist Church by his pastor, Rev. Fred Oxendale.
Mr. Nelson was a native of Pendleton County.
His parents were Isaac J. and Sarah E. Nelson, of Franklin.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Nelson, two daughters, Mrs. Laura Alderman, of California, and Mrs. Elizabeth Ingram, of New York; by his brother, Carl Nelson, of Cass; his four sisters: Mrs. G. A. Nash, of Elkins; Mrs. L. E. Cooper, of Newport, Tennessee; Mrs. Myrtle Thompson, of Washington; Mrs. Jessie Carr, of Norfolk, Virginia
