678Jacob was born at the home of George and Sallie PORTER, and was "reared by Isaac J. NELSON (1823-1897) son of Isaac NELSON" according to note in Thompson-Nelson family bible record transcribed by Lacie M. (Nelson) Ozment. The transcribed Bible record also reflects Jacob L. Nelson was born May 30, 1867 although his tombstone in Lehmansville Cemetery has May 31, 1867 inscribed.
Home site (originally known as the "Ott Hess Farm"),at time of death of both Jacob and Genettie, was on parcel of land located along the southwest side of Greenland Gap Road , and west side of of Knobley Road (State Rt.9), at the junction of these two roads. This point was commonly called "Falls" (no post office now) at the lower end of Greenland Gap through Knobley Mountain. It was located in Grant District, Grant County, WV.
The old house, harness shop , barn and other outbuildings were torn down in the 1970's and a new brick house was built on the site by Lyle Reahbaugh.
