179Gettie Pratt Lipscomb, 70, of Franklin and formerly of the Mount Zion community, died of an apparent heart attack shortly after being admitted to Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, August 24, 1992.
Mrs. Lipscomp was born May 15, 1922, at Harman, and was a daughter of the late Amos Lee and Lura Hedrick Pennington.
She attended the schools of Randolph Co. and had worked for the Parsons Nursery and the New Frontier Restaurant at Franklin for several years. She was a member of the Brandywine United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lipscomb had been married twice. On Aug. 20, 1937, she married Walter S. Pratt, who died June 17, 1969. On July 23, 1971, she married William Lipscomb, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, William Pratt of Franklin, Roger Pratt of Broadway, Alvin Pratt of Lost City, and Lowell Pratt, stationed in Norfolk with the Navy; two stepsons Harry and Delmar Pratt, both of Moorefield; six daughters, Patricia White of Hendricks, Marian Anderson of Sugar Grove, Carolyn June Frers of Albertson, NC., Beatrice Johnson and Dorothy Lipscomb, both of St. George, and Judy Moats of Franklin; four stepdaughters, Ollie Smith of Romney, and Edith Warner, Elsie Bosley and Lila Mae Hines, all of Moorefield; one brother, Charles Pennington of Moundsville; three half brothers, Rodney, Randy and Jimmy Pennington; one sister, Eva Riggleman White of Romney; four half sisters, Mary, Maxine, Janice and Marie; 35 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and step grandchildren.
The Rev. Eli Hostetler conducted the funeral at 1 p.m. Thur. at the Jeffrey A. Barb Funeral Home, Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetary.
