In the Name of God Amen
I Charles Hedrick of the County of Pendleton and State of Virginia, Weak in body but of a perfect and sound mind and memory calling toward the Mortality of all flesh do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. Principally and first I Recommend my Soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the Earth from where it was taken, to be buried in a Christian and decent like manner at the discretion of my Executors And touching this world by goods wherewith it has pleased God to Bless one in this Life I will and bequeath of the same in the following manner.
And first of all I will and bequeath to my oldest son Jacob Hedrick the two tracts of land lying in the Tract Hill which formerly went by his name only with his praise that he shall not have power to sell without consent of brother John G. Hedrick and also a good milk cow.
Secondly I Will to my son John all that part of my land that lies below the middle fence with a direct course of the fence on the Back Line.
Thirdly I Will to my son Frederick the tract of land on the North Fork where he now lives.
Fourthly I Will to my son Charles one Hundred Dollars to be levied out of my estate to be paid to him Immediately of my Death.
Fifthly I Will to my son Adam the upper part of my land along the Back Side of the old place Namely from John’s middle fence upwards and also half any land on the Slate Ridge and my son John shall have the other half.
Sixthly I Will to my son Henry my land in Hardy County on the head of Long Run Below the Sugar Bottom.
Seventhly I will to my daughter Barbara Ten dollars out of my estate.
Eighthly I Will that my daughter Magdalin shall have an hold all that she has got out of my estate And further I Will that my son Frederick and Henry do pay their Brother John and Adam (Page 22) the full amount of the value of their part of the old Entailed Tract of Land otherwise to make over their parts of said land to the said John and Adam also to my sons Adam and Henry to Each a horse Beast Adam to have the fore horse and Henry to have the horse after that And Adam to pay to his brother Henry fifty shillings add’l And I Will further that the remainder of my moveable Estate be Equally Divided amongst all my sons except my son Adam shall have two milk cows and my son Henry shall have five milk cows before the estate is divided and also my son Frederick shall have no part of my moveable Estate And Lastly I appoint my two sons John and Frederick Executors of this my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I hereinto set my hand and seal this 24th day of March 1802.
