1380Note: Jacob Spickard died while fighting in the Revolutionary War. His name was also spelled Spessard. The family was of German extraction. They settled originally in Pennsylvania and later migrated to Botetourte County, Virginia, which was originally part of Augusta County, Virginia. William Fletcher also lived in Pennsylvania for twelve years before coming to Virginia. It was probably in Virginia that he met Margaret (Peggy) Spickard, whom he married. Jacob Spickard had a son Henry. Some Spickards settled in Rockingham County, Virginia.
