Union City Times-Gazette, Saturday, May 23, 1942Mary E. Bortner is dead at Lynn.Mrs. Mary Ellen Bortner, 83, for 50 years a resident of the Lynn community, died at her home in Lynn yesterday morning following an illness of one week.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Nate Shockney and Mrs. Curtis M. Gillum of Winchester, Mrs. Laura Farmer of Losantville and Mrs. Maude Woods of Lynn; four sons, George D. of Richmond, Stanley J. of Lake Charles, La., Elza L. of New Madison, Ohio, and Thomas R. of Lakewood, Ohio; 30 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:30 a. m. at the Spartanburg Christian church in charge of Rev. Everett Reigel of Redkey. Burial will be in the Union City cemetery.
Friends may call at the home to where the body will be removed from the Thomas mortuary, after 2 p. m. today.
