George E Clayton, 74, of 52 Blocker Street, Ridgeley, died yesterday in Hopemont State Hospital, Hopemont, where he had been a patient since February 26.
Born in Tucker County, he was a son of the late Henry and Lillie (Smith) Clayton.
Mr. Clayton was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and he was a retired engineer for the Western Maryland Railway.
Surviving are his widow, Texie (Ault) Clayton; a daughter, Mrs. Eileen Bronson, Alburguerque, N.M.; a son, Royce Clayton, Cumberland; seven sisters, Mrs. Mary Roy, Dry Fork; Mrs. Flossie Davis, Frank; Mrs. Elva Arbogast, Ridgeley; Mrs. Geneva White and Mrs. Opel White, both of Elkins; Mrs. Hazel Wildman, Anmoure, W. Va., and Mrs. Alma Day, Chardon, Ohio; two brothers, Earl Clayton, Elkins, and Sibert Clayton, Clarksburg, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Flanagan Hill Church, Red Creek, W. Va. Rev. Ronald Winterberg will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
The body is at the George Funeral Home, where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
