Ulysses S. Turner
Ulysses S. Turner, 94, a resident of Montrose, died Wednesday at 11:20 p.m. at the Elkins Convalescent Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past two years. He had been in failing health for the past six years.
He was born July 8, 1889, at Onego, a son of the late Joseph and Sarah Nelson Turner.
On August 30, 1927, in Cumberland, Md., he was married to the former Gladys Huffman, who survives. Mr. and Mrs. Turner had recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Shirley Kaufman of Thompson, Ohio, Mrs. Leah Woods of Elkins, Mrs. Rheba Bennett of' North Ridgeville, Ohio, and Mrs. Dottie Hanlin of Willowby, Ohio; four sons, Jeri Turner of Little Rock, Ark., Lawrence Turner of Elyria, Ohio, Jerry Turner of Painesville, Ohio, and Larry Turner of Marionsville, Pa.; 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mr. Turner was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Turner was a farmer and a protestant.
ULYSSES TURNER, 94, a resident of Montrose, died Wednesday at 11:20 p.m. at the Elkins Convalescent Hospital. Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home after 5 p.m. this evening until 2 p.m. Saturday when services will be held with the Rev. Walter Blough officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens.
