1006Robert Stanley Carr, 83, a resident of Hendricks, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday afternoon, Feb. 1, at his home.
He was born Saturday, Jan. 26, 1924, at Gladwin, a son of the late Oliver Carr and Louisa Carr. On March 29, 1947, he was married to the former Joy Maxine Burns, who preceded him in death Nov. 25, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Knotts and husband Kenneth Jr. of Dunbar and Sandi George and husband Gene of Elkins; and one brother the Rev. Floyd Carr of Hendricks.
Preceding him in death was one daughter, Brenda S. Murray; five brothers, Glen, Warren, Pete, Hobert and Sturley Carr; and seven sisters, Lillie Plaugher, Retha White, Nellie Jenkins, Dovie Johnson, Mary Carr, Marjorie Lyon and Hazel Carr.
He attended the schools of Jenningston, was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army as a Sergeant in India for three years, worked for the former Dorman Mills for many years and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God at Rosendorf.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor, Monday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. Pastor John Means and Pastor Mike Wamsley officiated and interment followed at the McNeeley Cemetery at Hendricks. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Robert Stanley Carr.
