Zula Margaret Howell
AMHERST - Zula Margaret Howell (nee Jordan) 94 years of age, and a resident of Amherst,passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 12, 2008 at New Life Residential Center in Lorain.
She was born July 6, 1914 in Elkins, W.Va. Zula came to live in Elyria in 1953 before making her home in Amherst where she lived for the last five years.
Zula loved caring for her family, cooking, canning and gardening.
Survivors include her son Gary A. Howell and his wife Cherie of Amherst; her daughter in law Tina Howell of New Port Richie, Fla.; four grandchildren,four great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; her sisters Louise Yelton and her husband Blaine of Johns Island, S.C. and Kay Phillips and her husband Sterling of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-two years Howard Simon Howell on February 13, 2006; her son Robert J. Howell in 1994; her brothers Dale Jordan, Donnie Jordan; her sisters Edith Kerns, Opal Knepp, Ruby Pizzoferrato; and by her parents Thadius and Alice Jordan (nee Teeter).
Friends may call Monday, July 14, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July15, 2008 at 12 p.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Howard, will officiate. Burial will be in Rugby Cemetery in Brownhelm Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association; Cleveland Area Chapter P. O. Box 74924, Cleveland, OH 44194-4924.
