Mt. Solon --- Minor Adam Elza, 96, a former lumberman and farmer of Mt. Solon [VA], died Monday evening [Sept. 13 1971] at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 5, 1874 in Circleville, W.Va. and was a son of the late Lafayette and Sidney Porter Elza. Mr. Elza was married twice. His first wife, the former Susan P. Vint, died in 1920. His second wife, the former Lucy Bland, died Oct. 11, 1940. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Eye of Riverton, W.Va.; a son, Lafayette Elza of Circleville, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He had lived with his granddaughter, Mrs. Cleda Vandevander of Mt. Solon, for 10 years. The funeral will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Solomons Chapel Church by the Rev. F.H. Morton Jr. Burial will be in the Bland Cemetery in Riverton, W.Va. The relatives will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the Brown Funeral Home in Franklin, W.Va. -- Harrisonburg VA "Daily News-Record" Sept. 15 1971 .
