Gaye Velma Day, 84 of Lanesville, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at the home of her nephew and niece, John and Melissa Collette and sons of Bayard. She was born at Leadmine on Oct. 18, 1926, the daughter of the late Henry Carl and Jennie Judy Snyder. She was married to Harshall William Day, who preceded her in death in 2002. Shw was also preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Griffith, Tacie Dewalt and Muriel Simmons; and three brothers, Kenneth Snyder, Gerald Snyder and Hoye Snyder. Gaye is survived by five sisters, Shirley Allison of Ravenna, Ohio, Lena Pennington, Betty Bonner, Sharon Nestor and Patty McDaniel, all of Parsons; two brothers, Kelly Snyder of Parsons and Billy Snyder of Mackeyville; and many nieces and nephews. Gaye was a former longtime employee of Canaan Valley Resort. Her love for her two dogs and cats was known by everyone. She was a member of Lanesville Church. She will be missed by many people that knew her. Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home Friday, Jan 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Red Creek Church of the Brethren in Lanesville with the Rev. John Moyers officiating. Interment will follow in Flanagan Memorial Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Elkins Intermountain Newspaper January 26, 2011
