1891according to Schmidt1x family file at Ancestry.com, Marie Anne Hemmer was born in Berchem, Esch Sur Alzette, Luxembourg

Hemmer in Michigan Wisconsin
Maria Anne, the oldest daughter, married in Luxemburg shortly before her family emigrated. She and her husband whose name was Ponsing in Luxemburg but in America became Possing lived in Milwaukee until about 1861 when they moved to Leland, Michigan on the Leelanau peninsula just across from Door County. They had 11 children. Ccensus for Leland in 1870 ande were a lot of Indians listed among the residents. Must have still been pretty wild country.
