Irene K. Pennington, 74
Mrs. Irene Kinsreda Pennington, 74, of Harrisonburg, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She had been in Avante of Harrisonburg for the past year.
Irene was born in Onego, W.Va., on June 30, 1934, and was a daughter of the late John and Katie (Bland) Pennington.
Ms. Pennington is survived by her former husband, William Grogg Sr., father of the children, two sons, Jennings Grogg and wife, Teresa, of Bridgewater, William (Billy) Grogg Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Hinton; two sisters, Lorraine Losh and husband, Ronnie, of Dayton, Lee Brown of Harrisonburg; a brother, Virgil Pennington and wife, Georgia, of Singers Glen. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at Rawley Spring Church Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, with the Rev. Zack Pennington officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnson Funeral Service, P.O. Box 41, Bridgewater, VA 22812, to help with the funeral expenses.
