A lot of us would like to know! Personally, I believe that Henry Harry was married first to Mary Elizabeth Halen and that she died soon after she had my grandfather, James. He and Barbara Angel had Henry Halen Hensley. It wouldn't be hard to imagine where the Halen came from. Also, their youngest was Sibba. Mary Elizabeth's sister was Sibba Halen, who married Samuel Hensley in Albemarle Virginia and they went to Harlan, KY. (I believe it was Harlan). Sibba also died young. I have looked far and wide for Halens in Virginia and can't find them. I did, however, find Benjamin and Elizabeth Hickman Hensley, parents of Henry Harry. They lived in Albemarle County, which is now Louisa County, on the South Anna River. Back to Henry Harry. There is a lot of mystery about the wives and how many James there were. My records show James, son of Henry Harry , born 1776,married to Mary Martha Howard, and their son was James, married to Nancy Anderson Hensley. Second James born in 1796, father to Robert J. Hensley, Levi, etc. James and Nancy are buried on the Hensley farm in Clay County. We're just not sure if he was born in 1796, or is the son of Henry Harry and born in 1780. Very confusing! They all named their babies after ancestors. Neat idea, but hard to trace.

Hello Judy,
I hope you don't mind my switching to the public forum. How else are folks going to learn what we are looking for unless we tell them?
I think we must be looking at the same Samuel
Hensley, Sr. I have him as being b. March 17, 1752 in
Albemarle Co., Va. and d. January 1, 1831 in
Pendleton Co., Kentucky. He m. (1st) Sibba (how often do you see a woman named Sibba?) Unknown (you have her as a
Halen) about 1783 (you have 1776). The only record I have on Sibba is the 1810 Census of
Albemarle Co. where she is listed as head of household with three females and two males; one under 10 years and one 10 to 16 years old. That doesn't square with the birth dates of the two males I have recorded as being her sons??
Joseph N. Hensley,b. 1784,
Albemarle Co., Va.: d. bet. 1825-1830
George
Washington Hensley, b. 1788, Virginia; d. bet. 1850-1860; m. Ruth VanBiber, May 20 1813.
{I have nothing on a Solomon
Hensley. Doesn't mean there wasn't one tho}
The children of Samuel
Hensley and Mary
Leak were: Malinda, b. April 27, 1815,
Pendleton Co., Ky./d. bet. 1825-1830; Mary , b. October 2 1815, PCoKy./d.September 19, 1905, PCoKy.; David, b. August 19, 1818; Richard, b. September 9, 1821/d. December 9, 1880; John James, b. August 26, 1822;
Zachariah, b. February 21, 1828; Benjamin S. Hensley, b. October 28, 1809 in Virginia/d. 1865.
