Notes for Mordecai Preston Summerfield
682Last rites for Mordecai Preston Summerfield, 82, retired building contractor and carpenter, who died yesterday afternoon at his residence in Rawlings after a long illness, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the George Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Shellenberger. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery.
Mr. Summerfield was a native of Harman, W. Va., and a son of the late John and Mary (Roy) Summerfield. He came to this city 41 years ago. During World War I, he engaged in the contracting business in Akron, Ohio, and also built a number of homes in coal mining towns of this area. He retired in 1933 after 45 years of construction work.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Martha (Waybright) Summerfield, whom he married 63 years ago, he is survived by four children, Harrison G. and Alfred S. Summerfield, of Rawlings; Mrs. Kenneth Griffey, of Ellerslie, and Mrs. W. Z. Kimble, of Route 4, this city; 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The body is at the George Funeral Home.

682Rites for Mrs. Martha J. Summerfield, 82, who died Wednesday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth L. Griffey, Ellerslie, were conducted yesterday afternoon from the Kight Funeral Home by Rev, L. J. Moore, pastor of Ellerslie Methodist Church. Burial was In Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Summerfield, William Kimble, Ray Schlosser, James White, Fred Psimer and Linwood Griffey.
