Marjorie Thelma Rosenau, 81, went to meet her Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 6, 2004.
Marjorie, or Midge as many called her, was the fifth of sixth children born to Hetzel (John) and Ica Chloe Jordan. She was born in Weippe Nov. 26, 1922, and raised in Lewiston.
Marjorie married Gordon E. Rosenau of Genesee Sept. 29, 1945, after a six-week courtship, which continued for the next 59 years.
Marjorie and Gordon farmed at Genesee until 1958, when they moved to and were among the original homesteaders in Block 14 of the Columbia Basin. They retired and moved to Kennewick in 1976.
No matter what the job, from working in the burning-hot sun in the beet fields, digging dirt ditches, walking miles through the wheat fields pulling sacks of weeds or canning and freezing and putting up hundreds of jars and packages of food for the coming months, Marjorie worked side by side with Gordon in developing that land from raw dirt and sagebrush into a thriving farm. She was a pillar of strength, love and support to her family no matter what the need or circumstance.
She loved to cook for large family gatherings and having her house full, with no one ever leaving hungry. She was an avid seamstress and loved to crochet and design doll dresses. She collected dolls of every sort, type and style and would design and make clothing for them, many of which were specially designed and given as gifts of love.
She was an avid collector of John Wayne movies and memorabilia and loved to watch the Duke.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ica Chloe Jordan; her brothers, John, Jack, Brannon and Harry Jordan; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon E. Rosenau; daughters Betty Jean Salisbury and Frieda Page; son John Rosenau; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother Bud Jordan; numerous nieces and nephews; and Coco.
The memorial service is at 6 p.m. Friday at Highway Tabernacle Church of God on the corner of Highway 395 and Seventh Avenue in Kennewick.
Donations can be made in her name to Highway Tabernacle Church of God to benefit children or the American Heart and Lung Association.
She filled our lives with love, strength and happiness, and she will fill our Lord's kingdom in heaven with these, too.
