Philip Powell
Philip O. Powell, 83, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Altercare Nursing Home in Ravenna after a period of failing health. Born Jan. 18, 1915 in Bethel, Ohio, he was the son of Philip O. and Blanche (Underwood) Powell, Sr. He was a resident of Ravenna for most of his life. He also livied in Akron for several years. Mr. Powell was a machinist at Taylor-Winfield Co. in Warren and Byers Machine Co. in Ravenna. He was an active member of the Kent and Ravenna Jehovah's Witnesses congregations. Survivors include his grandsons, Charles Luzader of Ravenna and Philip Luzader of Kent; and friends, Dee Dee and Christopher Breauchy of Newton Falls. His wife, Agatha, died in 1997. His daughter, Wanda Lee Luzader, died previously. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Lovers Lane, Ravenna, with Mr. Henry Jakob officiating. Memorials may be made to the World Wide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.
