Glendora Harman Engman, 88, of Hampstead, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Lorien Nursing Home in Mount Airy.
Born June 1, 1922, in Davis, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ira Franklin and Zina Cooper Harman. She was the wife of Walton Ellsworth Engman, who died in 1995.
She was a housewife. She was a 1939 graduate of Westminster High School. Prior to the birth of her first child, she was a telephone operator for C & P Telephone Co. She also helped manage the family farm.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester. She was also a member of the Joy Group of the WELCA and former Triple Valley Homemakers and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
Surviving are daughters Kay Ellen Engman of Takoma Park, Jan Noreen Engman of Hampstead, and Marcena L. Walker of Spring Grove, Pa.; a sister, Viva H. Grabill, of Frederick; grandchildren Rachael and Micah of Spring Grove, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Acierno, of Ashtabula, Ohio; three nieces; five nephews; and numerous family and friends in West Virginia.
The funeral was at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with the Revs. Matthew and Norma Schenning officiating. Interment was in New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.
