LANCE G. SNYDER, 27, LONGTIME WEIPPE RESIDENT

SPOKANE Lance G. Austin Snyder, 27, a longtime Weippe resident, died Thursday at Spokane of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.
For the past six years Snyder worked for various logging companies in Orofino area, at Rathdrum and was working at Springdale, Wash. at the time of his death.

He was born Nov. 1, 1965 at Pasco, the son of Paul and N. Lynn Spicer Austin.
He moved to Weippe at age 11/2 where he attended school and graduated from Timberline High School in 1984.
He worked as hunting guide for Gordon Stimmel and later for Ken Smith. In early 1985 he moved to California where he worked in the oil fields. Later that year he returned to Weippe where he worked for the Whispering Pines Dairy Ranch and on the McCann ranch in Lewiston.
He married Lisa Staab on March 3, 1987 at Coeur d'Alene. They were later divorced.
He was an accomplished artist, who liked to fish, hunt, trap, tie flies and do leatherwork
Survivors include a son, Wayne Joseph Snyder of Grangeville his parents Lynn and Boyd Snyder of Orofino and Paul and Janet Austin of Kennewick; his maternal grandmother, Peggy Lee of Canby, Ore. and his paternal grandmother, Hazel Austin of Pasco.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wedenesday at the Wells Bench Cemetery at Orofino with the Rev. Phil Bonner of the Orofino Tabernacle officitaing.
Pine Hills Funeral Chapel at Orofino is in charge of arrangements.
