Notes for Catherine Rouleau
Catherine Kiely, 89, Lewiston
Tuesday, April 7, 2009
Our mother, Catherine L. Kiely, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Lewiston.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston. Steve Scaggs will officiate. Pine Hills Funeral Chapel of Orofino is handling arrangements. Interment will be at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens.
Mom was born in Ingram, Wis., Dec. 29, 1919, to Edward and Lillian Radiker Rouleau. She was the last of their 12 children to pass away.
Mom and dad, Daniel B. Kiely, were married June 21, 1936, at Winter, Wis. That year they traveled to Idaho to observe the availability of employment, but they returned to Mount Horeb, Wis., where Dad was a baker.
In 1942, they returned to Idaho and settled in Pierce, where they raised their five children and spent the remainder of their lives. Dad passed away Dec. 28, 1993.
Our mom was the best mother, wife, aunt and friend anyone could ever have. She gave tirelessly of her time and talents. She was a devoted mother, a great cook, church worker, caregiver, the town seamstress and raised five successful children. Upon entering our home, Mom would always inquire if you would like a cup of coffee or if you were hungry.
Mom was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pierce.
Family members surviving are sons, Jeff Kiely of Lewiston, and Daniel Kiely and wife Nancy of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; her daughter, Alice Marvel and husband Billy of Asotin; sons-in-law, Tom Snyder of Pierce and Glen Snyder of Lewiston; eight loving grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren will also miss their grandmother.
She was preceded in death by our dad, Dan; and daughters, Jane Snyder and Connie Snyder, both passed away in 2007.
Our family gratefully acknowledges and thanks Dr. Daniel McIntosh for his compassionate care for our mom. We are also thankful and appreciative of the loving care given to our mother and our family at Evergreen Estates and Life Care Center. Hazel Fee, Mom's special friend and Yahtzee buddy, spent many days and hours with Mom, in friendship and caring.
Rest in peace, Mom. We love you.
Memorials may be sent to Faith Lutheran Church, 611 S. Main St., Pierce, ID 83546.
